LNG

LNG is traditionally used to transport gas by ship over large distances from source to markets. The LNG is then regassified and injected into the gas transport networks. Now a new market of LNG is emerging, with application of LNG to fuel clean mobility in road, rail and marine transport. A new logistic chain for LNG bunkering and fuelling is being developed which requires new regulations, new equipment for transfer and storage of LNG, new engine technology. The Netherlands is leading in the implementation of LNG for clean transport, developing new technology for LNG storage, transfer and bunkering with applications for heavy duty transport for trucks and shipping. Innovation funds are available via TKI Gas to further develop small scale LNG applications in the Netherlands.
