European industries are impacted by globalisation and outsourcing, past benefits that now turn into potential weaknesses. This event focuses on addressing supply chain challenges amidst global changes and how national policy makers, industry and investors can respond to succeed in the energy transition.

An impressive lineup of industry speakers will share their views and experiences in working up, down and across their supply chains to make them more sustainable. Don't miss the opportunity to learn from their insights!

Agenda

MORNING: PLENARY PROGRAM

09:00 REGISTRATION
09:30 Words of welcome
Our June event is hosted by Siemens Energy and Deloitte who will open the programme.

Renske Ytsma, Managing Director, Siemens Energy
Oscar Snijders, Partner, Sustainability Lead, Deloitte

09:40 Making Supply Chains Work: An Economic Perspective on Energy Transition
The energy transition has moved from a climate imperative to an economic challenge. Europe stands at a crossroads where competitiveness, sustainability, and (geo)politics meet. The transformation of global, regional and domestic supply chains is about innovation but also very much about coordination, policy foresight, and smart economic strategy.

Gerben Hieminga, Economist energy markets and energy transition, ING

10:05 Sustainable Procurement and Delivery: How European Policy and Corporate Strategies Drive Change
Corporate clients increasingly expect their suppliers to demonstrate strong environmental and social responsibility. Suppliers and clients have different strategies. European regulations aim to support and accelerate these expectations and responses. This session addresses how sustainability in the supply chain is both a business and a regulatory necessity.

Christina Iosifidou, Head of Sustainability, Siemens Energy
Jille Luijckx, Sustainability Partner, Deloitte

10:30 Break
10:50 Turning Deglobalisation into Opportunity: Keeping Europe Competitive
While protectionism rises globally, Europe must balance strategic autonomy with the benefits of open markets. Can Europe seize the development of deglobalisation to strengthen its competitiveness? Scarcity in the supply chain for renewable energy projects highlights the need to secure critical inputs locally if possible. High and unlevel energy prices demand urgent investment in resilient infrastructure. In this session we will hear experiences from renewables and infrastructure projects and whether Europe can turn vulnerabilities into strengths by reinforcing domestic supply chains and supporting innovation.

Rob Bogers, Director, Shell Energy
Sjouke Bootsma, Director Supply Chain Management, TenneT
Phil Cole, Director of Industrial Affairs, WindEurope
Ruben Dijkstra, Managing Director BeNeLux, Ørsted

11:40 Investing in the Energy Transition: Identifying and Delivering on Opportunities
How attractive are energy transition projects still? Even in countries with supportive policies and the right natural resources, tenders can fail to deliver. Investors assess opportunities by weighing geopolitical dynamics, such as regional stability and regulatory shifts, which influence returns. This session will address how supply chain risks—like material shortages or trade restrictions—energy cost, suitable business case shape strategies of investors, project developers and offtakers and the choices companies make in where to invest.

Hendrik de Wit, Project Director CCS & Hydrogen, Yara
Maarten Weeber, Business Development Manager, Air Liquide
Lotte Voermans, VP Supply Chain Management VARO Energy
Peter Paul Ekelschot, Managing Director Energy, Global Lead Low Carbon Solutions & Head Energy Netherlands, ING

14:15 PARALLEL FOCUS GROUP SESSIONS
14:15 Heat Transition, System Integration & Digital Energy

In this combined focus group of Heat Transition, System Integration, and Digital Energy we join forces to dive deeper into the integration of the heat transition within the broader energy system. Industry, horticulture, and the built environment all deal largely with heating – from high-temperature processes and waste-heat, heating green houses, to achieving a comfortable living place. Often, the challenges in these sectors often are still treated as relatively separate topics, but what can they learn from each other, and what can they gain in case they join forces?

14.20 Welcome and introduction
14.25 Edwin Matthijssen & Martijn Clarijs, TNO – The power of designing integral energy systems with ESDL: a language for connecting digital energy tools, and an example of the Design Toolkit for the development of collective heating systems
14.45 Herve Huisman, Gradyent – Developing digital tools for industrial and built environment heat systems  – similarities, differences, and possible further systems integration
15.05 Boris Rigault, Siemens Energy – Bringing Industrial Power2Heat and Heat2Power systems to market – what are the future new cross commodity and market connections
