CCUS, H2, OFFSHORE ENERGY FOCUS GROUP
The technology of CCS has been recognized as one of the technologies that can help industries achieve their targets. To accelerate the role of hydrogen in decarbonisating the industry, blue hydrogen can play an important role, also here CCS is key. For the storage of CO2, the North Sea provides multiple options in depleted gas fields or aquifers, which required carefull spatial planning in view of other developments. To accelerate the implementation of this technology, it will be important to build the entire value chain from CO2 Capture, Transport and Storage. Different organizations are involved in the different steps in this value chain. Now is the time for these different organizations to collaborate and implement their projects together.
During our combined focus group session of CCS, Hydrogen and Offshore Energy we will discuss with different parties in the CCS value chain about the challenges and opportunities of CCS implementation. More specifically, we have invited emitters, such as Yara and RWE, from Industry and Energy to share their experiences about Carbon Capturing and connecting it to T&S developments. We have also invited Equinor to discuss CO2 transport in relation to the proposed H2M project, and North Sea Energy (NSE) to give their view of multi-functional use of space in the North Sea, including CCS developments.
