NEW SYSTEM INTEGRATION WORKSHOP (19 NOV)

NEW SYSTEM INTEGRATION WORKSHOP (19 NOV)

On November 19, ERC’s second main event will take place at Jaarbeurs Utrecht, under the theme "Going Further Together". Fitting that theme, the focus group System Integration returns with a follow-up to their carousel workshop of last April, during ‘From Friction to Flow’ in Rijswijk.

In April, we explored the large-scale renewable carbon transition in the Rotterdam Harbour Industrial Cluster: how do we move from ~50 Mton/yr of crude oil towards 15–20 Mton/yr of renewable carbon? The conversations were sharp and the feedback was clear: we need more dialogue and interaction with government.

This new session puts that front and centre. The format this time aims to explore how one end of the value chain meets the other. We have two value chains in the room (bio to fuels and circular waste to chemicals and materials), split into four discussion groups and we will move between individual groups with their internal focus to reaching out across the value chain, exploring the mutual dependence.

We have made an effort to bring policy into the room. Each discussion kicks off with a dialogue between the (semi-)public sector (government, institutions, agencies) and the private sector (companies, industry) and we have reached out to have more public sector participation in the audience.

The speakers kicking off the conversation include (more to be confirmed soon):

Private sector
- Robin Post van der Burg of Torrgas
- Valerie Bloem of BlueAlp

Public sector
- Hidde van Ooststroom of KGG
- Winnie Wener of Port of Rotterdam

Join us, bring your own experience and questions, and your doubts, and let's figure out together where ends meet. Expect sharp questions and honest answers with the people who shape this transition.

This focus group session is organized by Andreas ten Cate (Tekenkamer van de Industrie), Jan Prins (Siemens Energy), Arjan van Vliet (Shell), Steven Boogert (Arcadis) and Pieter Dols (Arcadis).

Joined us in April? Come and see where the conversation goes next. New to this topic? This is the perfect moment to step in. As with the last workshop, we will record the conversation under Chatham House Rules and share a short note to recap the discussion, shared after the event.
