NEW WORKING GROUP: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

How can we turn ‘Not in my backyard’ into ‘Welcome to my backyard’? This will be one of the challenges that we will touch upon in a new working group: Community Engagement.

The solutions the energy sector provides for the energy transition are for the most part technologically feasible. Societal acceptance and affordability are key to success. ‘Not in my backyard’ drives public resistance, not only to fossil but also to sustainable energy solutions. In this working group, we want to explore how the energy sector should engage with communities to get their appreciation and support. How can we improve our understanding of what lies behind? How can we regain trust? These are just a flavor of the topics that we will touch upon. In the first meeting, on 21 March, we will define the scope of the project together.
