OFFSHORE ENERGY AND DIGITAL ENERGY: NEW FOCUS GROUP SESSION
Europe’s energy landscape is becoming more interconnected — and with that more vulnerable. As renewable generation, offshore grids and digital systems converge, the ability to monitor and protect physical and digital infrastructure is critical.
During the Offshore Energy and Digital Energy Focus Group session at our upcoming event ‘From Friction to Flow’, Dr. Jan Langhammer, CEO of Sensnet Analytics AS, will give a presentation titled “Intelligent Infrastructure Monitoring Using Existing Fiber Optic Networks.” His talk reveals how Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology transforms existing fiber-optic cables into vast networks of virtual sensors, capable of detecting structural changes, environmental conditions and even potential sabotage in real time.
Drawing on decades of experience in the oil, gas and fiber-optic sectors, Dr. Langhammer will demonstrate how continuous acoustic monitoring can lower operational costs, extend asset lifespan and enhance security for Europe’s critical energy infrastructure — bridging the gap between sensor data and operational intelligence.
FLECS
This theme connects directly to initiatives such as FLECS (Fieldlab Energy Cyber Security), a collaboration including Dutch ministries, Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity, TKI Offshore Energy, TNO and the Topsector Energie digitalization program. FLECS offers a long-term, collaborative approach in which government, industry, and knowledge partners work together on innovation, testing, and shared insights to safeguard a safe and resilient energy system in the North Sea. Luke Fletcher (Principle Consultant Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity) will also provide a presentation during this session and tell us more about how FLECS strengthens digital resilience across offshore and onshore energy systems.
Join us in Rijswijk on 16 April to explore how innovation, collaboration and intelligent infrastructure can turn friction into flow for the energy systems of tomorrow.
