Report Oil & Gas Reinvented Community Event Big Data

MOVING ONE STEP FURTHER WITH DEVELOPMENTS IN BIG DATA

Last week the Oil & Gas Reinvented Community organized its 8th event! The central theme was digitalization and Big Data in the oil and gas industry. Speakers from various market sectors analyzed and explained how big data affects our work flow. Panelist, Gerard Smit from IBM put forth the following: “An enormous tsunami of data is coming ahead of us. But what are we going to do with that data?” He further noted that “Big Data will be enormously disruptive but by using machines, deployed with artificial intelligence, we can move this forward into the next merit.”

Developments in digitalization and big data make for excellent working tools to enhance the implementation of innovations within the oil and gas industry. Our working groups were heavily debating new ideas and processes to ensure an efficient transition into the new energies policy for 2050. Most notably, our Young Professionals working group! The members of this working group approached energy transition from a macroeconomic and a business financial perspective to assess the viability of specific innovative projects. “We live in an open network. And an open network lives
with communication and information exchange.”
– Horst Fischer (Siemens)

The Oil & Gas Reinvented Community would like to thank all speakers for sharing their knowledge on big data and for understanding the need to share ideas. More importantly, we thank you, our participants! Coming from various market sectors, you ensure that ideas are critically assessed from all angles to come to feasible ready-to-implement projects. Thank you all and we hope to see you again at our next event on 29 June 2017!
