HOW EU POLICY AND CORPORATE STRATEGIES DRIVE CHANGE
Christina Iosifidou, Head of Sustainability at Siemens Energy – Grid Technologies and Jille Luijckx, Sustainability Partner and CSDDD Lead at Deloitte discuss what corporate clients expect from their suppliers in terms of demonstrating strong environmental responsibility. They will go into how new regulations like CBAM and CSDDD are rewriting the rules of global supply chains and how innovative collaborations between clients and suppliers drive the development of low-carbon solutions, optimised logistics, and circular economy practices.
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) sends a clear message: emissions have a cost. For energy companies, this translates into decarbonising not only operations but also global supplier networks. Meanwhile, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) pushes firms to take full accountability for human rights and environmental risks, forcing a rethink of procurement and risk management.Jille sees firsthand how clients are embedding sustainability in everything from sourcing to product innovation. With tools for traceability and ESG data validation, companies are turning regulatory pressure into an engine for innovation. At Siemens Energy – Grid Technologies, Christina is personally working on this.
