INVESTING IN THE ENERGY TRANSITION

INVESTING IN THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Is the energy transition still an attractive investment? We’ll ask Air Liquide, Yara International, VARO Energy and ING during the session "Investing in the Energy Transition: Identifying and Delivering on Opportunities".

The session opens with Peter-Paul Ekelschot, Managing Director Energy at ING Netherlands and Global Lead for Low Carbon Solutions. With deep expertise in energy finance and project advisory, he will outline key investment risks and the value of collaboration in transition projects.

He will be joined by:
  • Lotte Voermans, VP Supply Chain Management at VARO Energy
  • Hendrik de Wit, Project Director CCS & Hydrogen at Yara International
  • Maarten Weeber, Business Development Manager at Air Liquide
Together, they’ll share practical insights on navigating regulatory, financial, and operational challenges when investing in low-carbon technologies—amid rising energy costs, material shortages, and supply chain risks.

Peter-Paul Ekelschot is Managing Director Energy at ING Netherlands and Global Lead for Low Carbon Solutions. He leads ING’s Dutch Energy team and has extensive experience in global energy finance, including CCS and hydrogen projects. Previously, he headed ING’s Energy Project Advisory teams in London, Houston, and Singapore, and managed North Sea oil & gas client relationships.

Lotte Voermans is Vice President of Supply Chain Management at VARO Energy, where she oversees logistics, inventory, and demand forecasting. With over 12 years at VARO, she began as a risk analyst, later moving into trading and then leading the company’s integrated supply chain.

Hendrik de Wit is Project Director CCS & Hydrogen at Yara International, where he leads the development of the CCS supply chain in Sluiskil. With a background in industrial gases, Hendrik held various leadership roles at Linde Gas and OCAP before joining Yara in 2020. "Decarbonising the supply chain for consumer products may require a multibillion-euro investment from us as a fertiliser producer, while resulting in only a marginal price increase for the end consumer," said Hendrik ahead of his contribution. "We need to generate demand for more sustainable products and ensure the added costs are fairly distributed.”

Maarten Weeber is Business Development Manager at Air Liquide, responsible for hydrogen contracts and business development in the Benelux. With a background in gas processing and power generation, he transitioned from engineering to commercial roles, focusing on both low-carbon and green hydrogen solutions.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear how industry leaders are making strategic decisions for a sustainable energy future.
